Booking us to sing for your event… The Swingin' Blue Stars perform to honor our veterans—of every age. We are also available for private parties and events. Our programs vary in length from 30 minutes to 2 or more hours, with the one-hour program being the most popular. We provide our own sound equipment, and we use backing tracks on CD for musical accompaniment. For these shows we charge a flat rate of $600 plus mileage from Pleasanton at .40/mile-- no matter how long or short the performance. NOTE: for weekends in December and holidays (including Veteran's Day), the rate is $650. We offer a discounted rate of $500 to military and veteran's groups, including all branches of the military, the VFW and American Legion. The money we collect pays for gasoline, uniforms, sound equipment, performance-related rentals, equipment maintenance and musical arrangements – and allows us to donate our time to provide a number of free performances a year. These are usually for the VA Hospitals, Stand Downs, local parades and fundraisers for the USS Hornet Museum and other national memorials. "REMEMBER THE USO" Show-- with live band: this is a full blown production with a five piece band. Rates depend upon location of theatre, sound equipment provided and length of the show. We will take special requests if given enough notice. Patriotic songs (as well as our national anthem) are also in our repertoire. There are five singers in our group, but only three or four will sing at each performance. This provides the best sound in 3-part harmony, and it allows us to sing for many more events by rotating singers. There are times when all five of us are present, but these are usually parade functions or special shows. Though we receive many requests for weekday, luncheon programs (and can do them sometimes), it is easier for us to schedule an evening or weekend performance. All of our singers have regular jobs, and during the week it is difficult for us to arrive at an evening function much before 5:30 or 6:00 PM.
